By what I have read, they are both good lenses. Right now, itmight be kind of hard to find the 24-105 F4 IS do the a recall. They have a major flare problem with them, and some elements might have to be replaced. I would hold off on this lens till a fix for the new ones have been tested and deemed ok.

Also, what do you plan on shooting? And what camera will you be using it on?

A few other alternatives are the Sigma 24-70 2.8 EX and the Tarmon 28-75 2.8. I have the Sigma, and so far really like it. If your on a tight budget, these two are way under the Canon lens.

Hi Bill,

I have a 350D and I have the budget for an L lens .

I planed to shoot ... everything... ... (easy answer...) nothing special but I whant the most flexible lens...

The 24-105 is maybe not enough luminous for sport but I like the 105...

The 24-70 is big and heavy and it has max of 70mm

For portrait the IS is maybe better...

...

HELP...

Thanks

I have seen that there are problems with the 24-105 :

- Vignettage (more than the 24-70)

- Flare problem (canon decided to differed the sale in Switzerland)

...

What about the quanlity between the 24-70 and the 24-105 ??

I think I will go with the 24-70 2.8L :?

Any Suggestions ??

Thanks
