Hello everyone,

I have posted here a couple of times and gotten great responses. Well, now my question is that I have 3 lenses:-

1) rebel xt - 18-55mm kit lens (not much zoom)

2) Tamron 70-300mm LD macro 1:2 (too slow to focus)

3) Canon 50mm

I am a student and can't carry around all my stuff all day long andthus I don't carry my cameraalong at all. I was thinking of selling the lenses and getting one lens that covers all 28-300m or something around that.

What do you think? I know I will lose the macro and low light shooting, but atleast i'll carry the camera with me.

Any suggestions for a lens (brand not important)? and
If I should do this?

I can't afford a L series lens, but my budget is around $400 (not much) I could push it to $500 by x'mas. I take pictures of everything from nature, birds, moon, etc.

Thanks for all the help.

if you must go to an all-around 1 lens..

the 18-200's from sigma and tamron are superior to the 28-300s..

both are surprisingly good.. esp if you stay under 175mm most of the time and don't mind a little distortion at 18mm..
