Tamron just announced 3 new lenses, including a new 17-50mm f/2.8 (Smaller sensors only for this one).

Click on a specific lens for more details:

I'm still looking for a 10-1000mm f/1 that weighs in at 240 grams, is only 3 inches long with internal focus, and uses 55mm filter threads. It should have super optical quality, even wide open, with ultra smooth bokeh and no distinquishable contrast loss from flare in harsh lighting. Despite it's light weight, build quality should be outstanding thanks to breakthroughs in materials.

Fast and accurate AF would also be desirable (and they should go ahead and throw in 1:1 Macro ability at all focal lengths while they're at it). What the heck... make it a tilt/shift lens design, too, and list it for $299 (before discounts).

I'm watching the announcements for it. LOL

It is nice to see a new competitor from Tamron for the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 (as user reports seem to be mixed on this lens, especially on KM DSLR models).

Jim,

You forgot to add weathertight seals to the list and a $50.00 rebate!

Yes, the weathertight seals would be nice to have.

The rebate would also be good.

I'm waiting on the "buy one, get two free" sale before I get one, though.

You have too be wary about third party lens. Most Tamron lens are good, but now and again they slip in a generic lens that is shared among other makers. A case in point is the 19-35. Also made by COSINA. This lens is being sold at £129.99 here. I must say for that price it is a good lens. A U,S review said it was sub average. So much for reviews.

I think I saw something online about this. You purchased the lens for $1,000,000 then got an instant rebate $999,999 and a coupon for a free Canon 1D Mark II n D R 20D t 30d D2xray.

If I find the site, I will put the link up. I should have taken it but I was short the buck.

Wait no more...I've got a tree that grows these very lenses down in Florida....see me after the show and I'll give you a great deal on the tree (yes, you have to buy the swamp it comes in).
