Hi Joe

I have the 70-200 F2.8 non IS version and use it wih the 1.4 extender on my Rebel XT. Works well but you may have to crop pictures if your subject is far off or small. I don't use the lens muchanymore because I needed a bit morereach so I put the 300 F4 on the extender. It never comes off the camera.

What are you planning to shoot with it?

This bluebird was taken with the lens, extender combination you are interested in.

Thanks,

Just handheld from fairly close. I really like the 300 F4 and it works well with the 1.4. It's just not as flexible. Here are a couple shots I took with that combo. I haven't had any experience with the 2X

I've not used the 70-200 2.8 with the 2x on a DSLR body, but it's worked well for film. Shooting wild life at a zoo & outdoor sports has produced results I am more than satisfied with. You can even crop a bit without loosing too much.

I like the combo.
