hi,

would be nice to hear some opinions about sports lense for 350d. Havent yet decided, but, already have listed canon 70-200 F4 USM, canon 70-300 IS F4.6-5, Sigma 100-300.
I'll be takin' pictures without any trippods, exactly motosports, football, some people and so on.

thanks.

Got some pretty good pictures at a recent hockey match with the 350D and a 100mm f2.0 prime lens.

Unfortunately I have some potential bad news - sports is one of those things where there isn't a silver bullet lens - even if money were no object. I think the best starter setup is a 70-200 2.8 lens with a 1.4x TC. That gives you the most bang for the buck. A lens with f5.6 IMO just doesn't give enough background blur for sports like football or soccer. The Sigma 100-300 f4 is an outstanding lens, but might not be wide enough if you end up shooting indoors at all. I really think the best starter setup is a 70-200 2.8 lens. 70mm is a little wider and the extra stop is HUGE for low light and for blurring the background. You can also add a 1.4x TC to get more reach. The Sigma 70-200 2.8 is a great alternative to the Canon version. It's a little more expensive than the Canon 70-200 f4, but a lot less than the Canon 2.8. I think FOR SPORTS that's the best approach.
