Are white L lens really white ?

I have just bought bought my first L lens a 70-200mm F4 and expected it to be white but when it arrived I was surprised to find it is sort of beige (very off white)

Is this normal?

Compare it to that; that is the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L USM lense.

This is normal. I have a 70-200 f2.8 IS...and it's somewhat beige.

You should be able to call Canon Support and give them the serial & model number of your lense to verify if it is legitimate.

Mine is beige, not off-white. I brought mine from Calumet and I got a rebate. I had to supply the serial number to get it. Youshould be abletell by the quality of the lens compared to most lenses. It should be metal and of very high quality finish. Check with Canon to be sure.

I call it off-white (next to the white lettering on the Sigma):
