I notice what look like dark spots in my viewfinder while looking thru it.I was wondering if this is dust on my mirror?I know it isnt on my lenses.

Probably dust on the mirror. Better than on the sensor ... but it may go there.

There's only two places that you can really 'see'...
1. The sensor which should shows up at the same place on every images
2. The viewing screen which should only show up in the viewfinder and not on the images

-> Dusts on the mirror are like particles on the lens therefore not on the plane of focus and are not viewable :-)
