I recently traded up from the 75 - 300 IS to the Sigma 100 - 300 F4. I also got the 1.4 tele-converter. Originally I was just thinking of getting the newer Canon 70 - 300 IS but that lens had problems, plus it loses autofocusing on most cameras when a tele-converter is used. The 100 - 300 F4 is about 300 USD more than the Canon and heavier. I think it's worth it. Others may not. It comes with a case, hood and tripod mount. The Canon doesn't come with any of this.
