I am wondering which is the best general purpose zoom lense for this camera: either the...

Tamron SP AF 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 XR Di LD Asph. (IF) Macro

or the

Sigma 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 DG MACRO

Mike-

I use the Tamron 18-200mm on my Canon XT and like it very much. If you purchased just the Tamron 28-300mm XR lens, you would miss the wide end at around 18mm that is so effective. The 28-300mm is a great vale consumer lens, so I added that as well, so that I own both to use whenn I need a bit more reach.

Here is what the 18mm end of the 18-200mm lens looks like. It was taken with the same lens on my D-50.
