Have anybody used the combination of either 1.4x or 2x Teleconverter along with Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX APO Macro HSM lens ?
Please drop a note if you have some exp. with CA, sharpness, etc... Also whether the Sigma converter is on par with Canon or not.

Thanks for reply.

BTW, I heard rumor from Photkina, which coming up in 2 months, that Canon will come out with Rebel XT replacement with a 12MB - $999 version to head-on with Nikon D200, if this is true then IMHO, I rather would wait to upgrade to 30D and wait for 5D to drop instead.

I have the Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 EX and both the Sigma 1.4 and 2x TC. the combination with either one is excellent. I've also stacked both TC's with this lens and still get very good pictures. This shot was hand held at 200mm with the 2x TC.

I just purchased the Sigma 50 - 500 bigma, and am trying to decide between one of the brands of 1.4x teleconverters. I read Lightrules comments on his site, but I still didn't see a test between the Sigma and the other two, Tamron and Kenko. He recommends the Kenko Pro because it is cheaper and as good a the others. Anyone have the Sigma 1.4x, and either the Tamron or Kenko, that can support Lightrules conclusion? I would like a little more input from people with hands on experience before I make the pruchase of a 1.4x.

The pics taken with the 2x look nice, better than I thought they would with the 2x. Look forward to hearing from you.

This is easy to answer (and you won't find a picture) because the Canon 2x won't fit the Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 the last time I tried!

The Sigma 2x will fit the Canon though because the middle part do not protrude as much as the Canon...

-> The Canon 2x will hit the back of the Sigma

Thanks NHL, you saved me from the trial & error from buying the 2x.

Caboose, I noticed that your picture look kind of soft at the edge, does it
consistently with the rest of the F-stops?

Thanks

That's not soft at the edge - It's the DOFplaying trick on you...

Quite true NHL .
When you focused on the women with a wide aperture then the law of DOF is applied. I forgot about it when I first saw the picture. :-)

That's one of the beauty of fast large aperture lens - It isolates (pops) the subject from their background...
