I bought a second Ixus i and within a couple of days it died. The camera stopped working with the lens extended and the shutter open (so it didn't shut down gracefully). On the first occasion it recovered shortly after, but now it seems to be terminal.

Anything I can do to resue it? I am willing to swap parts from my working Ixus to try to diagnose the problem, but I'm not going to bother if this is a well known permant failure.

Thanks in advance

I tried the camera again today, not expecting anything to happen. It woke up long enough to retract the lens and show me a couple of pics I'd taken previously, but now it's shut down again. I've tried different batteries to no avail.

Any ideas very welcome.
