Default Hacking a Canon Camera. (a70)

I was just wondering.
The cheaper canon camera , also use DIGIC image procesor.
Do they are the same as the better cameras or they are diferent versions.
If they are the same , could be any way whe could hack into it to enable you others features ?
That would be nice.

Default protection

sounds doable if you can get hold of some firmware code(I'd rather not start from scratch), but canon may have addded some security(embeded signatures)

although it's highly likely to turn your camera into a vegetable,
know anyone on the firmware developemnt team at canon?
