What most people don't tell you is, you have to be in the right place at the right time and have some luck on your side. I spend a great deal of time in the field every week; you are not going to just walkup on an opportunity like this without paying your dues. I was about 20 feet away and the Hawk was about 20 feet up in the tree. I spent a ½ hour taking pictures from several different angles. The Hawk was not intimidated what so ever from my presence. Like I said, right place at the right time and some luck.

That's a nice shot of a Pigeon. It appears the grass behind the bird is the only thing in focus. You were using Aperture-Priority mode at 3.5 and a Focal Length of 72.0mm. You may want to try 5.6 for greater depth of field and focus on or in front of you subject, not behind. :|

I downloaded 1 of your pictures and see you shot it in Foliage, which adds contrast & saturation. Most of your colors are very bright and vivid. I like them that way, although my photo class teaches us to expose to the right, which produces an image with less contrast & saturation. With that said, "Too each his own" do what YOU like.
