I'm thinking about buying a G7 and looking for feedback. No battery indicator seems to be a problem? How long does the battery last and how much memory will I need?

Also where isthe best prices at? I tried to order from a couple of places and they tell you they have them in stock and when you don't buy more stuff they say out of stock and hang up! What a terrible way to do business!

I thought I could get one for $433 and now I realize I will pay closer to $599 so I'm slowing down and doing more research.

I have my G7 since last week. It's priced 475 euros and in stock (www.pixmania.com). Some comments already on my site

Battery life is VERY short, Canon original NB-2LH are expensive (67 euros), unknown origin batteries are very affordable (about 8 $). I found mine on eBay, from a German battery maker (http://cgi.befr.ebay.be/GPi-Qualitae...QQcmdZViewItem)

For the rest, it is really a great camera, except if you prefere DSLR ...

Found a denoised ISO-1600 dpreview photo, scaled down to 5 MP:

Doesn't look too bad. Using ISO 800 might have been better for preserving detail, though.
