I have a new Canon SD600 and I can open the cover about 1/4 of the way and then it seems to bind or stick, I don't want to force it and break it. The manual says and shows (instructions & pictures) that you flip it up. Is the cover hinged, would appreciate any help......thanks, barb k.

EDIT: I took a chance and slowly pulled out and up a bit, WOW that is 'cheap', held in the top by a plastic looking strap, that appears it will last about 2-3 times and then break off...Why would Canon make such a nice little camera and put such 'cheap' pieces such as the Battery/Memory cover and the A/V cover

I suspect it is like the Canons I own. The cover is designed to pull completely out on one end and the other end is like a plug. It will pull out a short distance and then just swivel and hang there. Don't try to pull it all the way off.
