I have acquired a Canon Powershot A430 cam but my PC will not recognize it.Several calls to Canon Australia have not been of any use.Can anyone help me use this cam on my PC..

I have tried all the usualsteps to get it to be read by the PC.It does appear in the Control Panel. Have tried the all the5 USB ports I have

Glad for any advice.

What about using the Canon ZoomBrowser software that came with the camera?

Thanks .As I said all the usual things have been tried I need something from the deep beyond to solve this I see on the net it is common....are these cameras maybe not compatable with XP..shame if that is the case.

The zoom browser when clicked to open camera window says no camera connected.Camera works fine taking pics etc

Get yourself a card reader, you can get them for around $20 US. Then you just plug your memory card into the reader and that takes the camera out of the equation. Other benefits arethat it also saves wear and tear on you camera batteries and the picture files will also download muchfaster.

Sounds obvious but is the camera in picture review mode when you hook it up?
