I'm thinking of purchasing one as they're on sale at the moment. I've done my research on them and so far it's all been good reviews, but I've noticed some reviews say that the shutter time is slow & also the rubber socket cover is a bit flimsy & may snap off with continued use. So just wondered how other A530 users have faired with there cameras. Shall I go ahead with my purchase or shall I fork out a little more money and get a more updated model? A540 is going for £40 (US$78 )more than the A530 is at moment. Would that £40 extra be worth it?

I've had my Olympus C-120 for 5/6 years now & I'm hoping my new purchase will repay me with as much loyalty as I plan to give it!

Anyway thanking you in advance.

I own a A540. It has several advantages over the A530. A quick way to see the differences would be to use the comparison feature at http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/co...categoryid=113 and select the A530 and A540. From the same site you could download the manual (same manual for both) and read through the lists of differences.

As to my A540, just follow this link for my comments http://www.epinions.com/content_309290569348

Regardless of which camera you buy, be sure to get some eneloop rechargeable batteries to get the best battery life. See http://www.epinions.com/content_309637189252 for why.

As to price, in the US the A540 can be got for $170 and the A530 for $130, making the $40 difference worth going for the A540. Your market may be different. Use a shopping search engine to find the best deal.
