I've just found out that some SD devices can't recognize cards over 1 GB. Can the S3 IS use a 2 GB card? Thanks!

Since I can't delete the post, I'll quote from the Canon site. I was dumb to not get the answer at first, but really smart to have bought this camera! Cards up to 32GB!

Issue: What is the largest capacity memory card that can be used in my camera?

Solution: Supported memory cards for PowerShot A630, A640, A710 IS, S3 IS, SD40, SD800 IS, and SD900

Supported memory cards for PowerShot series cameras announced since August 2006
Your camera can be used with either SD or SDHC[suP]*[/suP] memory cards that conform to the Secure Digital standards. You may use multi media cards (MMC) with this camera; however, Canon makes no warranties concerning the use of multi media cards (MMC). The maximum capacity SD that may be used is 2 GB. For capacities greater than 2GB a card adhering to the SDHC standard must be used. Canon also does not endorse any particular brand of memory card or suggest specific "Speed Ratings".

[suP]*[/suP]SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) standard supports speed rated cards of over 2GB capacity on up to a possible maximum of 32GB.

My S3 takes a 2 GB card quite nicely.

Be sure you format it in the camera before use and every once in a while.
