Not that there is anything wrong with the A550, it made Steve's "Best" list (review), but if you can wait a month the A560 will be released and the specs are virtually the same as the A550 but the A560 has a 2.5" LCD display vs. the A550's 2.0" screen. You can pre-order the A560 at Amazon for $230 and get *free* ground shipping.

Mmm, at that point why not go to Adorama or Buydig and step up to the Canon A630, which features 8mp and the articulating 2.5" LCD screen, as well as a larger, better CCD?

Well, I'm so new to digital photography that I honestly hadn't thought about the A630. My needs are quite simple and I don't take lots of photos. I do, however, want to get the best value for my money and I want to get a camera that will allow me to grow with more use.

Thank you for the A630 tip (that articulating monitor is cool!); are there any other cameras in the $250 and under range that you would recommend? Care to comment on this thread?
