Yes Canon G7 is great but with great problems. In my opinon, problems are resulting from unfinished firmware.
I'm dealing with a lot of problems with canon G7 after i had upgraded from my previous camera minolta F200.

Here U can read more.
http://besik33.borec.cz/g7/canon%20g7.html

Main problems:
-Macro not fully usable
\--flash in manual mode
\--manual focus not usable
\--preview on the display
-Exposure Bias Value - doesn't work in certain situations
-Preview on display - mismatch photo

Has somebody similar problems?
Did someone discover other bugs?
Plz give me a notice

THX.

Sadly no hope for a firmware update from canon. During the last years Canon has almost exclusively made firmware updates only for their EOS model cameras.

You can verify it here:http://web.canon.jp/Imaging/news-f-e.html
