Does anybody know what speed the S5 IS is capable of for the memory cards? In other words, is it worthwhile spending extra money for a high-speed card?

Canon doesn't seem to have the info on their website and a query to their sales department hasn't gotten me a response yet.

Thanks,
.../Ed

The S3 is compatible with the SDHC cards and I have heard of people using up to 4gig cards. I would assume anything that will work with the S3 will with the S5. I use SD Ultra II 2gig cards and they work very well for video and still.

I have used both the SanDisk Ultra II 2GB and the SDHC 4GB memory cards in my S5 and both work fine. I usually keep the 4GB SDHC card in my camera most of the time because I take lots video shots.

I recently purchased an S3 and tried two cards in a brightly lit room without a flash.

I set everything at highest quality levels in continuous mode. I use two SD cards:

2gb Sandisk extreme III

1gb Lexar Platinum 40x

I know this is not the most scientific, but shot to shot time seemednot to be anydifferent between the two cards (the extreme 3 is supposed to be a faster card)...or if there was it was just too little to notice
