Obviously I meant the SD700IS and SD850IS.

Tony-

The majority (90%+) of the body construction on both cameras is primarily metal with a small plastic frame, and battery compartment door made of plastic.

Thanks for your reply, but when I saw the sd850 at Best Buy the salesman said it was all plastic and it looked like plastic to me also.

Tony-

If you choose not to believe me, that is OK. Just go to any professional review of these cameras and you will see that oddly enough, I happen to be correct.

Have a great wekend.

Hi Sarah,

I believe you, my comment wasn't meant to doubt or offend you, if I did offend you I'm sorry. My comment did sound like I didn't belleve you but I was confused. I have ordered the sd850is after looking at it again.

Thanks again,

Tony

I returned the camera because it was too light for me and indeed WAS made out of plastic. Canon verified it's a plastic made to look like metal. I purchased another brand camera. A Panasonic DMC-TZ3 which I love. It takes great photos and it's made of 99% metal which for me was an important factor as I dropped my last Canon and broke it.
