Default G3 question

So my sister just got a G3. She has been having fun using it.

But when the battery finally died, she found that it didn't come with a charger. Do you charge the battery in the camera (i.e. plug the camera into the wall with the batter in it and it charges it) or was she supposed to get a charger and didn't?

I know that my camera came with the same battery and it came with a charger.

A quick look at bhphoto showed that the "items included" didn't include a charger. Which implies to me that it must charger some other way.....

I have a G5 but I assume the accessories are the same. You plug the included power cord into your camera and the other end into the wall. That's how you charge the battery. Did she get a manual with her camera?

Eric, according to Steve's review, the G3 is supposed to come with a battery charger. Was the camera bought new from a reputable dealer?

I have a G3 and, like the G5, it comes with a power cord and transformer that plug directly into the camera body. I also was able to purchase and 3rd party external charger for about $50 at BestBuy.

She got it from a local place, so I assume they were not running a scam like many of the places on the web.

I agree about the manual. I assume she got one, but with a new child might not have read it as completely as she might.

I find it interesting that they integerated the charger into the camera. Makes it heavier and larger than it would be without it... and they already make the charger for other cameras (like my 10D, which shares the same battery.)

Thanks for all the info!
