I am having trouble figuring out what is wrong with my S1IS. In shooting mode, everything looks fine until I take the pic. When I snap a pic, I get a nasty image with horiz. bars and lines in black and white. The lines pattern is the same on every photo. This ends up being what gets stored on my CF card as the photo. I swapped out the CF card but that wasn't the problem. I tried using the video capture mode and it works fine. Playback was crystal clear.

What could be the problem? Is there some kind of reset I can do, or should I try to flash a new firmware or something? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Go to Canon website and check in support, there is an advisory on problems with the ccd, mine died at xmas. they will send you a refurbished one for nothing. you can do it through email or call the 800 number. you will receive a free shipping label from them. takes about two weeks and you're up and running again. I was VERY impressed with Canon's service in this matter. Good Luck! See Service Advisory at top of the Canon page? It affects serveral models even my old S330 that my daughter has.

good for you Henrik,

I'm still learning the S5 and miss the S1, I don't think the megapixel war is all it's cracked up to be...:?
