Default Will old 35mm canon lenses fit the 300D??very new to SLR.

hey ther everybody.
i initially was going to buy a nikon cp5700 but im glad i waited.
the 300d looks awesome and well i guess i might as well as get into slr photography so that i can start learning from now.

so my idiot question is ...

can normal 35mm canon and sigma lenses fit on the new 300d, or is there a specific way to check if they will work before buying.

thanks guys.
any info will really help a newbie like me.

What is the old camera?

It must have an FD mount or be an EOS camera.

Older Sigma lenses must be "rechiped" so they can talk correctly to the camera. Sigma still does this for some lenses, but not for others. So you might be out of luck. I don't know how you can tell, but contacting Sigma might do it.

I would also recommend that you go to a local store and look at the 300D. Its interface was made a bit odd in a push to save cost in production. Personally, I don't like a lot of their choise... but their price point is certainly nothing to sneeze at.

You might want to post this in the Canon DSLR area further down the list of forums. This is really a DSLR question.
