Default S-50 vs. EOS 300D

OK--price aside, will I generally get better photos with the EOS or the S-50? Up to now, I thought the only weakness the S-50 could possibly have was the short zoom. Any suggestions? I'm using the Olympus 750 (10x optical), and need a camera of equal quality that can 'take it'. Thanks! Jerry

what you will get from the 300D is considerably more control over all your functions. focus, DOF, lens selection, relative feel.

it will exceed the quality of a s50 in image. as to a better pictures, that is up to the person looking through the lens and taking the shot. the 300D is more then point and shoot.

now just what do you mean by a camera that can "take it"?

Thanks for the help! By 'take it', I mean stand up to some rough outdoor use. My Canons always have; my Olympus--not nearly as well.

i still have my original OM1 from 1976. its been all over with me. still won't give that up.

realize that it (300D) is a plastic body camera and an all electronic nightmare too. so if you had an old canon film camera you will have to treat this one with a bit more respect. do not use it to drive stakes into the ground for your tent.
