I just purchased the Powershot S5 IS and am pretty happy with it. BUT I can't seem to get the super-macro fuction to work. Have read the limited manual description of holding down the macro button for more then a second, but this does nothing.

I can get the macro 3" - 19" fine, but 0"- 3"= no dice! no super-macro icon on screen.

Not sure if I'm retarded (big possibilty there) or camera is defective.

Would appreciate any feedback.

Thx.

Here's something I found on this issue:

Not only that, its super easy to use. Just put the S5IS in program mode and hold in the flower button on the side of the lens. Boom! Super macro mode.

Andy has found the issue for you.

It appears that you are unable to go to super macro when in the Automatic Mode, instead you must have the Mode Selector in the "P" for Program Mode. Give it a try and let us know if that solves the situation.

Have a great weekend.

Hey all -

Here's the deal -> Canonusa.com had a much better explanation then the supplied manual. And here's the skinny... "Super Macro Mode is only available in the following modes: P, Tv, Av, Video, and M."

For all the fun details, go to -> http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/co...pportDetailAct

Then key in Super Macro and you'll get everything you need Macro and Super-Macro.

Thanks for all the replies.
