I totally love my A640 and have recommended it to a few people. But one thing I can't stand is how cheap and overly complicated the automatic lense cover is. After 5 months of owning it I turned it on and the puzzle pieces which make up the cover/door shot everywhere. I sent it to Canon and they replaced the whole lense unit under my warrenty. Well now 5 months later it happen again and it will require fixing. Am I really unlucky or is this a common issue? A couple more months my warrenty will be up and I'll have to live with it. 2 repairs in under a year sucks.

I hate to say it, but I think it's somewhat common. I had a Canon A700 and the same thing happened. Was replaced under warranty. After that I didn't have any more issues. I now have a A720is, been working ok so far...
