SX1 (and SX10) don't have a thread, only concentric rings, but I use my (heavy) fisheye with it. No problem, even with tele (but this is sensless)

Some fisheye pictures from today from a 3-hours-walk, it had -8° ... fine temperature! -15° is cold, more is warm.
This picture puts emphasis on why this superzoom is bigger than its competitors (except Fuji S100) ... because Canon put some proper optics for this zoom.

DonalDuc, which other competitors did you compare the SX1 to?

Fuji S100

Panasonic FZ28

Olympus SP-590 UZ

For example, how does it compare to your Olympus SP-570?

Thanks again

ALL cameras are good, of course I don't know all of them, but I also have a FZ30, Oly SP-550, Oly-SP570 and some DSLRs :-)

I know people with FZ18, FZ28, FZ50, Nikon 700 a.s.o.

Every camera has pros & contras, with all of them I can live. And also take good pictures. SX1 also is fine - especially movie with 1920x1080, other cameras don't have.

There is no "best" camera - take one of them and make pictures, that's all. It is nonsens to talk about noise, high iso, much pixels. If you think, this is so - buy another camera and be happy with it. Don't believe, what reviews say or people say they mean they are photo gurus. They do not pay your camera and do not make pictures for you.

SX1 is one of many good cameras and if you read the manual and get practice you will make good pictures, but you must SEE them and you must understand photo, light, physic, optic, electronic ....

Most people talk and talk and talk ... and forget how to use a camera.

I always read, SX1 has longest shutter = 1 sec. That's wrong.

If you read manual - SX1 or SX10 - in BOTH you can read:

1/8 - 1/3200 for automatic etc.
15 (!!!) sec - 1/3200 for whole range!

Look there:

... and look EXIF ... 15 (fifteen) sec!

Agree. I can get good pics with my 5-yr old Canon Powershot S30 (3 MP) :|

:G

I was interested in ease of use and speed compared to the Olympus, not only talking noise, distortion..

Txs again for these nice pics.
