Just wondering if the digic IV processor on the SD 990 is worth the cost over the SD 890 with the digic III processor. Yes I know the 990 has more mp's , but the 890 has a better optical zoom. And I don't know how often I would use all 14 mp's.

If the processor is truely that much better, well maybe it's worth the cost in order to have better quality pics.

So does anyone know what the difference between these processors is? And what type of photography will it help most?

Thanks for your insight!

michael-

Generally speaking as processors are improved it was to add new features such as face detection, improving the noise reduction circuitry, and the like. One good way to determine the difference between the Digic 3 and digic 4 is two read and compare the professional reviews for each camera.
