Default shoot the sun

Hi iam i sx1 is user and i wonder if shooting the sun in bakground of the picture (like pic attached) may harm the sensor or not also i want to know if the view finder of this camera is the same as the main screem and just smaller or it has a differant data path because i know when we use view finder in dslr to shoot sun dosend harm the sensor

Have you ever used a magnifying glass to focus the Sun to a small spot and set a piece of wood on fire? If your camera is focused at infinity that's exactly the intensity you would expect on the sensor when you snap the shutter. 'Nuff said?
