Default Canon Powershot SD780

How does the Canon Powershot SD780 do for quality vs. value?

I had one before I gave it to my Eldest daughter. I also have the G9 and G10 and while it does not really approach them, it is close behind. For money and size, it will be tough to beat. By far and away, its best feature is the video. It takes some amazing video..I would buy another one if I needed it.

Its my first camera but so far I love its portability, ease of use and build quality. I'm too new with photography to rate its image quality but it gets good reviews. The HD video quality is amazing for a digital camera.

AUTO mode is intelligent, pics are very sharp and usually at IS0 80 or 100 provided there is "some" sunlight.

the 3x zoom is a bit disappointing but I knew of its limitations before purchase.

the viewfinder I always use, I can't seem to get the knack of using an LCD screen at all to setup a shot.

the hd video is very good.

I have both Canon SD1200IS and Canon SD780IS. I think Canon SD1200IS does a better job, while SD780IS looks sexier and smaller. What do you guys think? SD780IS 0.8fps, while SD1200IS 1.4fps.

share your thoughts, thanks.

The SD-780's trump card is it HD video. Its still photos are a bit below other SD series cameras such as the SD-850 and SD-940. The 3X optical zoom is limiting, but the camera size provides a lot of appeal due to it small physical form factor.

Have a great day.
