Default Canon SD850 IS ... versus SD1200/SD780

I had just about decided to go with a Powershot SD780 IS or a SD1200 IS...then one of my Facebook friends was bragging about their Powershot SD850 IS when I posed a question to all of them.

Is the SD850IS still available...and how does it compare to the other two that I have mentioned.

While we are at it.... if indeed all three of these cameras are still being produced....which one would be the best for photographing nature....things such as birds and flowers.

Welcome to the Forum. We're glad you dropped by.

Among the three SD series cameras mentioned, the SD-850 has the best image control and sharpness. The appeal of the SD-780 is the HD video, and for the SD-1200 it is the unique smallness of the camera that accounts for its appeal.

For bird and nature, most users want more zoom such as the Canon SX-200 will provide or even a SX-20 for it maximum of 20X optical zoom to be able to reach out and get the desired photos from a distance.

Have a great day.

I agree, for nature shots, having something with a longer zoom could be quite useful.

the SX200IS is reasonably priced would be a better choice among the compact Canon Powershots.
