Default G11 running warm

Took my G11 for its first outing today. Excellent pictures, but I notice that the part of the camera that falls under the right hand becomes warm after about 30 minutes use. Is this to be expected? There is obviously a lot of computing going on in there, but should it be running warm to the touch?

karora-

The battery area does get warm, but not hot that is normal. Major circuitry will also warm up, but never to a point of being hot to the touch.

Thank you Sarah, I have only ever had Canon Ixus before
which never got warm, but the G11 batteries are much larger.
It makes sense.
