Default Christmas Lights

Any recommendations for exposure settings for taking photos of outdoor Christmas light displays? I want to play with my new G3.

NYIP has an article on this topic here Holiday Lights

Basically Tripod=yes, Flash=no, Spare batteries=lots.
if you are using a digital don't let the LCD freeze.

When you are done put the camera in a Ziplock bag, squeeze out the air and seal it before going into the warm indoors.
Don't open the bag until the camera has warmed up to room temperature.
This will prevent condensation from forming on and in the camera.
