Default Contrast and Color Problems with A80?

I just bought an A80 (mostly because of the reviews and comments on this website) and so far I'm not very happy with the image quality. I find that that the colors are not very vivid and that white seems too bright. I have had to take the pictures into Photoshop to adjust the contrast levels in order to get decent pictures.

Has anyone else has problems with the image quality of the A80? Is there anything I could be doing wrong?

Hi. Its not that you are doing any thing wrong. But you need to set up the a80 the way you like (your pix to look like.) You need to change the set up for color (to make them more or less vivid) and the white balace has many changes that can be made, auto WB is not always on the money. I have over 4300 pix with my a80 and think 95% are just great looking. Go back to the manual and look up white balance, and setting the color you like. One more thing if the person called Flylow reads your post iam sure he will be of better help than me. He knowes this camera very well.I hope i was of some help.Tealblue

Default Thanks for the reply...

I played with the different white balance choices and the photo effects today and I am happy to report that these settings make all the difference. I guess I was hoping that the Auto setting would do a better job than it did but all in all I'm very happy with the results of the pix I took today.

Thanks again for the reply.

yes!!!!!!!!! Iam glad your are happy now.the a80 is a great camera.I think it would be very hard to make a camera that would please all of us in the auto mode. Some are to dark,to light ,poor white balance, and so on. The best full auto camera i have ever used was a nikon 5700.LOL. But that was the last thing that camera was ever made for.The macro was to die for. But the a80 has done a great job for me so far.Tealblue
