Default Beloved Powershot A640 got wet

I just bought an underwater housing for my A640 and after 2min under water (freshwater river), I saw the water leaking in.
I took out the batteries and let it try for 3 days, but the camera doesn't turn on anymore.
I'm soooo sad, I love this camera and now it's dead.
I looked on the net and am shocked to see, that this 4 year old camera costs more used, than it cost when it was new.

Question 1:
Can this camera be repaired and if yes, whom should I contact?

Question 2:
What is the equivalent model today, for around $200-$250?

What I really liked so much about this camera, beside the great picture quality:
The swivel LCD, use of AA batteries, use of SD card, size and setting options.

It looks like the A650 is the newest of this line, but is already 3 years old, is canon planing on releasing a similar camera , or did they change the model name?

Data -

Welcome to the Forum. We're glad that you dropped by.

As you have failed to give us any data at all on where you live, telling you where to seek repairs is impossible.

After a three year absence of any A- series upgrades, I believe that it is safe to say that Canon will probably not be releasing any further upgrades.

The Canon G-11 is currently the only Canon camera with a swivel LCD screen.

A possible replacement, and I do think that the cost of the repair will exceed the value of the A-640, would be the Canon SX-130 with 12X optical zoom, HD video, and AA battery power.

Sorry, I live in Florida.
I found a Canon PowerShot SX20 IS, which looks similar and the price is under $300.00.
I'll be reading some reviews.

Thank you

data-

The SX-20 is a good camera, but it is in the process of being replaced, that is why the price is low. If you are interested in a super zoom the Panasonic FZ-35 is a much better choice.

After some more reading, I think I'll go with the SX130 is.
the only thing missing is the swivel LCD and I think I'll get over that.

I found it at camerakings for $239.00, this seems to be the best price out there, do you know of any other sellers/better price?

CAUTION: camerakings does not have a good rating at all! Just check at www.resellerratings.com and it is easy to see.

www.amazon has the SX-130 priced at $249.00 and they offer a no questions asked, no charge, 30 day guarantee. That way you can check out the SX-130 and return it if it does not meet your needs.

I have the SX-130 and like it a lot. Please click the link below for a sample photo:

The sx130 should be a great choice. I would agree, go with a reputable seller, Amazon is always safe with their return policy, as are the big cam stores like B&H, Adorama, etc.

you can also use our camera store feature, and help support our wonderful site.

wow, I was also looking into an unbelievable price of a T1i.
I'm glad I checked out the reviews of those stores and will stay far away from them.

Thanks

I used your store locater and found it at my local sears.
I ordered it and I just got back from picking it up!

First impressions are very good and the large LCD in the back, instead the swivel LCD isn't that bad after all.

Again, thanks for your help.
