Default S400 AF assist beam?

I've heard many stories of the AF assist beam on the S400 being misaligned. I bought mine a week or two ago, but will not get to open it until christmas (heh). How exactly can I tell if it is misaligned? Is it slight or can you tell it is in a totally "wrong" direction?

If anyone has a tip to determine this for when I finally do get around to opening it, please let me know!

Thanks!

Default AF assist beam

I took mine out to my garage at nite and using the optical view finder I lined up the crosshairs on the center of the door and half pressed the shutter for prefocus and the orange beem was exactly in the center of the door so I knew it was aligned ok. I have seen posts about missalignment thats why I checked while still under warranty.
