Default A495 is Very Disappointing, Alternatives Sought

I just bought a Canon A495 as a pretty inexpensive point and shoot that takes good quality images. So far, I'm very unhappy with the camera. Even shots I took in good daylight are very soft. Many were just plain fuzzy. I know I was holding the camera as still as was possible, and it does have rudimentary image stabilization.

I have the option of returning the camera. Is there something else (Canon or Nikon) that is a little better, and possibly a little more solid-feeling in hand?

Thanks very much.

Mass.WineGuy-

I do not have hands-on experience with the A-495. However, I have a lot of hands-on experience with my A-480, that I purchased as a refurbished Canon camera for just $70.00 from Beach Camera.

The A-480 has been great and produced all my E-Bay photos beautifully. One of the best things about my A-480 is is great image sharpness, as you can see from the attached photo sample.

Thanks, I've decided to return the A495 and probably buy a Nikon L22. I think some kind of image stabilization is good to have.
