Default SD940is

I have a Canon SD940is.

When the camera is set to shoot on Auto mode, most of my pictures have come out blurry. Ive noticed the Camera Shake warning come on, and realize the need to put the camera on a tripod.

Surely there is a way to shoot clean pictures, without the use of a tripod. Wanted to know how......

Type of pictures Im taking? Mostly indoors, a few out in the park..... family pictures.

Thx.
