About batteries: High-capacity rechargables will give you longer run time, but I'm getting very good battery life with alkaline (single-use) batteries in my A70 that I don't feel the need to buy rechargables and a charger. This is compared to a Casio 3Mp camera I borrowed some time ago that ate batteries for lunch. With the Canon I don't need to be so concerned about leaving the camera on or using the LCD. Depending on how often / how long you use the camera, you might want to save the price of rechargables and a charger, at least until you get a feel for how they perform for your use.
