Default Canon SD cameras using .avi

I have owned several SD cameras in the past and used Windows Movie Maker for editing my videos.
I lost my previous camera and purchased a new one SD1300 IS. When I tried to import into Movie Maker it wouldn't do it because they no longer use the .avi format and now it's a QuickTime file (MOV?)
Can anyone tell me what Canon SD cameras still use .avi? Or is there a way to use the newer format in Movies Maker?

The AVI format does not offer 720p; the MOV format does. According to everything I have read online, including the product manual directly from Canon, the SD1300 records in AVI format and the SD1400 records in MOV format. Are you sure you don't have the SD1400? The SD1300 should record in AVI format.
