Default ixus 750 (SD550) and memory card error

Hello,

Maybe someone can help me...

I have a ixus 750 (SD550), worked fine for few years, then I started to have the "memory card error" message. I tried 5 different cards: transcend 16GB, sandisk ultraII 1GB, sandisk extreme III 4GB, a generic 4GB and the card coming with the camera canon SD 32MB.
none work anymore except the canon and all these cards work in other camera, camcorder and even recognised by pc...

what could be the problem? Canon support is useless, they claim the cards are defective, bla bla...

what could be the problem?

thanks
vince

Well, Vince-

There are two options:

(1) Seek a replacement SD550 on E-Bay, KEH etc. However, due to its age a SD550 might be hard to find.

(2) Purchase a new camera. You have gotten a good amount of use from the SD-550, and I get the feeling that you really want more zoom, so I think that the Panasonic FZ35 is a good option.

ok, I'm indeed tempting to get a new camera, but the SD550 works except this memory card error. and it's a super compact, really a nice pocket camera. so I was hoping that someone suggests a fix as I believe it's quite a common error.

so people used the hair dryer trick, how, I don't know? anyone?

thanks

Vince-

I guess my answer was not to your liking. E-Bay is showing 100% operational SD500's selling for $30 and up.
