Default Picture Style Editor

I have a couple of questions about the Picture Style Editor that came with my Canon T1i
1. First of all, I can not get a picture to show up in the program. I go to File> Open Image, then to My Pictures and I go to the folder and double click and it shows no images to select. How can I get picture to show up?
2. If I do finally get a picture there, can I use this program to make funny pics (eg. taking my head and putting it on my dogs body)? Looking to do some stuff for a fundraiser for my local dog shelter and thought it would be easy to do but I am stuck.
Thanks

what you have to do is drop an image in to it from either DPP or zoom browser. Hope this helps
