Default Canon Speed Question

I have a Canon A720 IS. I have this weird problem.

When I turn the flash off and take a picture it writes to the SD card pretty quick. When I leave the flash on it takes 3 to 4 times longer to write to the SD card. I can't figure out why that is. Can anyone help or explain why?

Thanks.

What you're seeing with flash is probably a busy indicator that the camera is not ready because the flash capacitor is recharging.

It's common for a camera to take several seconds to recharge the flash capacitor before you can take another photo with a full power flash burst.

Yep... there's little doubt of that based on posts I'm seeing elsewhere and the area the posts are coming from.

So, rather than wait on the spam to show up in the signature lines later, I pressed the ban button. ;-)
