I recently downgraded from SLR(Beginner Level) to P&S, as no more time for complicated photography. Finally decided on the SX40, and here are some first shots that I took.

Majestic Bird
F5
1/320
ISO 100
Zoom 88.5mm (150mm=840mm)

Red Dragonfly
F8
1/400
ISO 500
Zoom 150mm (150mm=840mm)

Orange Dragonfly
F5.6
1/400
ISO 200
Zoom 150mm (150mm=840mm)

Dragon Love
F5.6
1/200
ISO 400
Zoom 150mm (150mm=840mm)

Wild Flower
F5.6
1/250
ISO 400
Zoom 150mm (150mm=840mm)

The Lookout
F5
1/320
ISO 100
Zoom 88.5mm (150mm=840mm)

It doesnt feel like a bad downgrade as I am satisfied with the pics. However, I noticed the darkened corners at full zoom, and think this has to be expected with such a great zoom, with such a small lens. A crop (Which I did), or photo editing software might help in this.

I mostly used the presets available, but hope to use more personalised settings when i am more familiar with it
