Default Tcon17

Someone out there must know what is req'd to attach a TECON 17 to a SX30/40IS. Is there a tube and or a step up/down ring. Posted this subject once but have not really gotten a answer.

Otter-
You'll find this very convertor being discussed in the Fujifilm forum here:
http://forums.steves-digicams.com/fu...tcon-17-a.html
They discuss the adaptor ring necessary to adapt to a Fuji HS-20- the principle is the same with your SX-series cameras.. you'll just have to replace the Fuji's filter thread size of 58mm with whatever your Canon filter thread size is and get the appropriate adaptor.

The problem you'll have is that the SX30(if it's the same as the SX40)doesn't have a filter thread. I know it looks like one- but I've tried to attach a filter with no success- so I'm guessing the thread(or whatever it is) is purely cosmetic.
They do make an adapter to attach filters to the Canon- but this attaches to the outer end of the lens barrel- and it's for quite a large filter- 63 or 67mm- I can't remember.
This would be quite a step up ring...!!
Just a thought- I wonder just how large a zoom a camera would have to have before people would stop attaching tele-converters..!!??

Whoops- sorry- I didn't realize the Canon's didn't have a filter thread. Just because one might not need a TCON doesn't mean that someone might not want to add a filter. Another reason to be glad I returned my Canon SX/opted for the Fuji!

Wes- as mentioned,a filter adapter is available for the Canon- however, certainly not as convenient as just putting on a filter on the lens like the Fuji HS10/20.
One wonders why Canon didn't choose the option of a standard filter thread..!
