Default New A80 is this normal?

Hi alll

took delivery of my new powershot A80 today which is replacing my old A40. I'm very very pleased with it but theres just one thing i keep noticing
which i'm not sure is normal:

which ever mode i'm in When I half press the shutter button to allow the camera to focus, set white balance etc the lcd screen flickers/ flashes a couple of times quite brightly but really quick it sort of looks like a flash from another camera but really really fast i dont kno whether i'm being picky or what is this normal i know the lcd addjusts itself but stilll

Hi,
I have my camera A80 which is 4 months old , I dropped it accidentally and had to get the battery side of camera replaced, I am not sure if it happened before but whenever i press the shutter half way through the LCD monitor flickers.. I saw from yr discussion that its normal..
but i got a reply to my question in this forum saying it is not normal.. now which is right
