Default Canon A80 or the Fuji F700?

Hi,

I have a simple question, which is it to be?

Cheers

Depends on what you are going to use it for. The Canon is a 4mp camera, the Fuji has a 3mp sensor but it is resized and interpolated in-camera to 6mp, a trick fuji has been doing for years. The fuji super ccd sr technically has 6 million sensors - 2 sensors per pixel, one for bright light and one for dim light but it is still only 3 true mp.
If you want the truest color representation I would get the fuji but if you want higher resolution and a more versatile camera I would go with the canon. Tell us what you need it for and we can give you a better answer.

Im looking for a camera that gives excellent picture quality, is both auto and a fully featured manual mode, yet is still quite small.

The A80 has some great reviews, whilst the F700 has had a lot of mixed reactions, picture quality and compression being two of the major ones against the Fuji. Also many agree the 6mp is bad marketing as the true image quality lies somewhere between that of a true 3 and 4 mp camera.
