Hey,

I just upgraded from the S400 to the S500 and with the S500 there is a mechanical sound when you press the shutter button to focus. This was not in my S400. Is that normal in the S500?

Thank you.

I wouldn't worry about it unless the camera doesn't focus properly. All auto focus systems use motors and gears and make some noise, some louder than others.

The camera focuses fine. The "new" noise is only in the quick shot mode, so i think that's it.

Ireally like your reviews for the S400 and S500, I read them before I bought the camera.
